Agricultural Pollution

   The Division of Soil and Water Conservation works with the Morrow Soil and Water Conservation Districts to investigate and enforce the agricultural pollution laws. After receiving a complaint that alleges a violation of agricultural pollution laws, the Division or the local Soil and Water Conservation District will typically perform an investigation within three business days.

     Pertinent information for an intake call includes:

​

          -The location and description of property and/or waters of the state allegedly being impacted...

                   This includes crossroads, landmarks, coordinates, etc.

                    "Waters of the State" includes all streams, lakes, ponds, marshes, watercourses, waterways, wells, springs, irrigation systems, drainage                                                                       systems, and other bodies or accumulations of water, surface and underground, natural or artificial, regardless of the                                                                 depth of the strata in which underground water is located, that are situated wholly or partly within or bordering upon                                                               this state or are within its jurisdiction.​

                  What is the concern? (ex. manure in ditch, unobserved setbacks, discolored water)

                     When did you first notice the the concern?

                     Did/do you see any threats to public health and/or dead wildlife?

          -The alleged source of pollution...

                    Do you recognize the material of concern?

                    Do you know where it is coming from?

                    Have you seen any equipment in use? (ex. semi, tractor, tanks, loaders, spreaders)

 

          -Any efforts made to eliminate the issue...

                    Have you noticed any clean-up efforts?
