Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District is equipped to assist the FSA and NRCS with designing solutions if it is determined you have significant enough erosion in your fields to warrant a waterway installation.

If Cost-share is Desired

-Contact FSA office to determine cropping history in that area and eligibility. Then, start the process with FSA and NRCS to determine which programs they have available to fit your needs.

Agricultural Grassed Waterways

Broad and shallow, Grassed Waterways are erosion control channels that collect surface runoff on agricultural fields and, using natural depressions in the land, direct excess water to an outlet.

Washout areas may be an indicator that a grassed-waterway could be of benefit.

The vegetation within the waterway slows the flow of surface water and provides a buffer for sediments leaving your field. Although planting space is sacrificed in the process, wildlife habitat has been improved, water quality downstream has been enhanced and newly emerged crops stay above water and in the ground.
